One of the worst things to hear from a teen in the library is, “I really want to check out this book, but I have too many fines.” It breaks my bookish heart!
This is one of the many reasons why we’re offering the great Teen Fines Read-Off program throughout the summer! Reading books = getting rid of fines. We did this last October for Teen Read Week and it was such a huge success, we’re bringing it back - with snacks.

WHO?
This is a teen event, 6th through 12th graders only.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Come to any of the events listed above...and read! For every 15 minutes you read, you’ll get $2.50 off your fines. Read for a minimum of 30 minutes, but there’s no maximum. Your friendly librarian did the math, and if you attend ALL of the dates listed you could get up to $150 off your fines! The discount will only apply to your card (not family members) and only for existing fines (you can't read extra for fines you haven't received). Did I already mention there will be snacks?
WHAT CAN I READ?
Anything! Fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, magazines, and even fanfiction if you want. It does not have to be a library book. But if you want recommendations for something fun to fill the time, we would love to help you out.
