Book a Room

Room Reservations

Lawrence Public Library is your spot for community meetings, presentations, and quiet study areas. Below are a few FAQs to help get you started.

How much does it cost?

Our meeting rooms and study rooms are available to use free of charge to any one person or organization.

There is a $50 per hour fee for the auditorium for events that are not sponsored by Lawrence Public Library.

How often can I book?

You, or your organization, can book our meeting rooms twice a month, and our auditorium once a month. For the meeting rooms and auditorium we schedule 3 months from the current date. You can book our study rooms for one, 2-hour session per day. Study rooms can be booked 2 weeks from the current date.

How do I book?
You can submit requests for rooms online here or call us 785-843-3833. You’ll receive an email confirmation of your reservation.

What rooms are available?
Library Auditorium – We have an auditorium that can seat up to 160 people. We have 18 small rectangular tables, and 7 round tables for you to use to set up your event.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the staff to help with the physical set up of the auditorium space, so individuals and organizations will need to set up and break down before and after their event. Don’t forget to include setup and cleanup time in your requests.

Meeting rooms – Our meeting rooms are usually set up with 20 chairs around a perimeter of rectangular tables (making one big rectangle in the room). We can seat up to 30 people without the the tables.

Study Rooms – Our study rooms can accommodate up to 4 people.

Can I hold my birthday or other recreational party in a library space?
No, unfortunately we are not equipped to handle parties. We suggest you get in touch with Lawrence Parks and Recreation.

Are food and drink allowed?
Yes (except alcohol), we just ask that you dispose of any garbage and food when you leave. We do ask that you leave the room clean and tidy for the next party. We do charge a $50 clean up fee if our staff has to spend extra time and effort cleaning up after your event (cases such as marker on walls, food ground into the carpet, etc.).
