Retirement

Welcome to Retirement Boot Camp, Lawrence Public Library’s two-year pilot program designed to help people transitioning to retirement find health, happiness, purpose and peace of mind. (And fun. Can’t forget about the fun part!)

Retirement can be an anxiety-inducing experience, particularly if the decision to retire is not your own. Even if you’re fortunate enough to retire on your own terms, the anxiety associated with this major life change is real: What will you do with your time? How will you set new boundaries with your partners, children and grandkids? How will you make new friends and stay connected with friends who are still working? Will you be healthy enough to enjoy yourselves and accomplish your goals? How long will your money hold out? Who will you be when you’re no longer teachers, accountants or (fill in your job title)?

Retirement Boot Camp, funded by a generous grant from Capitol Federal Savings Bank, will help you answer those questions through relevant programming, classes, social activities, online resources, and sharing the experiences of other retirees.

Consider this page your home base for Boot Camp program announcements, weather cancellations, helpful resources, retirement blog, and notices of “pop-up” social events scheduled on short notice throughout the year.

And, if you’d like all that information delivered to your inbox, simply sign up by clicking the link on the left side of the page to receive our Retirement Boot Camp newsletter.

We hope to see you soon. Here’s to the next chapter!
