Online Resources FAQs

  • General Questions

Yes.  Most online resources are available to access outside of the library.  For most resources, you'll just login with your library card number and PIN from home. For a few, you'll be prompted to also sign up for an account the first time you use it.  Visit Research + Learn to see many of the premium resources you may access with your library card.

Several of the online resources we recommend are provided to you by the State Library of Kansas. (Go here to see a complete list of the State Library’s online resources.) To access these resources, you either need to be using a computer with a Kansas IP address, or you’ll need to have a Kansas Library eCard. In particular, most of the eBook services provided by the State Library will require an eCard to login.

To get a Kansas Library eCard, just stop in at the Accounts Desk, or give us a call at 785-843-3833. If you’ve already got a Lawrence Public Library card, it’ll take just a few moments to get you set up with a Kansas Library eCard. (If you don’t have a card with LPL, go here to find out what’s required.)

We have just a few online resources that you must be in the library to use; you can access them either from a computer in our computer lab or by connecting your laptop or other device to the library’s Wi-Fi. Those resources are: Ancestry Library Edition and GrantStation.
