We want YOU to design the Teen Prize T-shirt for 2025!
Every year, the Lawrence Public Library holds an art competition to design the Summer Reading Teen Prize T-Shirt. Every teen who finishes Summer Reading will receive this shirt in addition to a ton of other incredible prizes donated by our community and the library Friends and Foundation.
Who can participate?
Any 6th-12th grader living in Douglas County is eligible to compete!
What are the design requirements?
DESIGN MUST INCLUDE
A book or books in the design. Hand lettering or text that says “Summer Reading 2026,” “Lawrence Public Library,” or “Read, Score, Roar!” are optional but not required.
DESIGN PROMPTS TO GET YOU THINKING
Soccer and sports AND/OR paleontology, fossils, and dinosaurs
DESIGN SIZE AND COLOR
Image must be created in only 1 color — black — on white paper (think drawing with a Sharpie!)
Design must fit on an 8.5x11" piece of white paper (or a scanned / photo version of it)
Design can be created on a computer, hand-drawn, or painted
When does the contest start?
The T-Shirt Design contest begins on March 15th and ends on April 10th at 6:00 PM.
Where do I sign up/turn in my design?
All design contest participants MUST fill out this form. You can submit your design digitally through the form, physically to the Teen Services Desk, or emailed to mmoore@lplks.org
What does the winner receive?
- $300 — on a Visa gift card
- 1 free tee — for you featuring your design
- 1 free hoodie (or) bag — for you featuring your design
- free t-shirts — for your immediate family members featuring your design
- portfolio & resume content — looks great on college applications
