The Lawrence Public Library's Teen Summer Intern program is now open. We are looking for three teen interns (incoming high school sophomores to newly graduated seniors) for our 2024 Summer Reading Program. This teen internship program was made possible by a generous gift from Jeff and Mary Weinberg and the Jedel Family Fund.
The internship program runs from May 27 to August 6. Each teen intern will work 10 hours per week. The selected candidates will be assigned to work on one of three ongoing youth summer reading programs:
-
“Imaginarium,” Mondays 2-3 PM, targeted towards 8-11-year-olds.
-
“Wednesday Wonders,” Wednesdays 2-3 PM, targeted towards 5-7-year-olds.
-
Teen programs, Fridays 2-4 PM, targeted towards 6th-12th graders.
The teen intern’s weekly 10 hours will include setting up for, running, and cleaning up after their assigned ongoing weekly program(s); and conducting research and preparing for the following week's programs.
Teen interns will also be expected to assist in the evaluation of programs and participate in a final review of their internship.
