1000 Books Before Kindergarten is one of those library programs that is exactly what it sounds like. You and your child read 1000 books before they reach kindergarten. That’s the whole thing. Our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program started at Lawrence Public Library (LPL) in 2018. It’s been quietly running and we’ve been handing out prizes for over 8 years. But it may have fallen off your radar, so we’re bringing it to the forefront of your mind with a glow up. What’s changed and if you’re new here, what is it? See below for all the details:
Best part of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (1kBBK) is that you can take as long (or short) as you like. You can knock them all out quickly before your kiddo turns 1 year old or take a leisurely stroll through logging books and make sure they’re finished before kindergarten
You’ll earn prizes along the way!
300 Books- Canvas Book Bag (to carry all your books!)
600 Books- Reading Buddy (small stuffie to snuggle while reading)
1,000 Books- Hardcover Treasury Book, Bumpersticker
You can log offline or digitally (that part is new). You can pick up physical logs at the library or do everything on the Beanstack app. (Here’s a quick video on how to get signed up on Beanstack-- coming soon.)
