Q&A with Logan Isaman-Unruh, Fundraising & Volunteer Specialist
Subscribe to an all-in-one subscription to help the library continue to support all Lawrencians! The $10 for 10 for $10(K!) fundraising opportunity allows Lawrence community members to “subscribe” to help the library monthly–think like how you subscribe to streaming services that rhyme with “Schmetflix” and “Schmaudible”–but you’re subscribing to help young minds, neighbors in need, and a thriving community! Your support of just $10/month ($120/year) helps continue library legacies such as the Summer Reading program. To make the fundraiser even sweeter, a generous donor has pledged to match the amount fundraised with $10,000–hence the fundraiser name. We are approaching celebrating 10 years of the renovated library building at the Last Bash celebration this July. What and who will Lawrence community members be supporting for the next 10 years by supporting the library as a "Page Turner"?
Page Turners sign up to give monthly donations to the library. Our library is deeply valued by the community. Beyond our beautiful building, we offer so many free resources, services, and materials that benefit everyone. But, free to the community doesn’t mean it’s free for the library. We are so lucky to have strong tax funding, but to provide everything our community needs we depend on fundraising. 100% of library programming is funded by private donations and book sales. That means that Summer Reading, author visits, storytimes for kids, and so many other deeply impactful programs depend on your support. We want to continue to “Imagine More” for the library, and that’s where you come in.
"Summer Reading, author visits, storytimes for kids, and so many other deeply impactful programs depend on your support."
As you mentioned, the Library’s Friends and Foundation funds 100% of the Library’s Programs like the Summer Reading Program, the RetroActive Program for Retirees, and more listed here. Why else should Lawrence community members give regularly to the library?
On an individual level, the library can help you save money. Everyone is paying for streaming services these days. The average U.S. consumer spends over $200/month on streaming services. What is interesting is that the library provides much of the same content and services completely free of charge. You can stream movies, music, audiobooks, and more for free with your library card. Not to mention all of the physical materials you have access to. If you need to pinch some pennies, cancel some of those streaming services and switch to library services. When you make monthly donations to the library, it replaces your individual cost of streaming services and instead supports access for all. You can help the library and help your budget.

Anything else you would like to share with potential “subscribers” to library services?
What you’re subscribing to is growth. We are committed to building on the vision that Lawrence has for its library. You must continue to Imagine More and share your vision of the library. We need your support and buy-in to take LPL into the future. Give Today.
One last question–What are you reading, Logan?
I’m reading The Secret History of Bigfoot. I love the way that Bigfoot lore has captured so many Americans and this is a fascinating dissection of where it all started.
The Summer Reading 2024 program is also sponsored by: the Library Friends & Foundation, McGrew Real Estate, opens a new window, the Douglas County Community Foundation, opens a new window, BNSF Railway, opens a new window, Crown Toyota of Lawrence,, opens a new window and Security Benefit, opens a new window. Events are free and open to the public.
