Independence Inc has a fleet of accessible vehicles providing door-to-door weekday transportation throughout Douglas county and transportation to medical appointments in Topeka, Kansas City, and Leavenworth.
- Service is available to the general public
- Rides are available throughout Douglas County
- Rides are $3 for each one-way ride in Lawrence
- $5 for each one-way ride in Douglas County
- $30 for an out of town medical trip
- Passengers who cannot afford payment CAN receive one round trip ride but will need to pay for the trip before the next ride is schedules
- In cases of extreme hardships, arrangements can be made for a reduction in fare, but you need to ask to speak with the Information and Referral Specialist prior to the ride
- Individuals are encouraged to call at least two weeks in advance. To reserve a ride, call 785-843-5576, Monday - Friday from 8am-4pm.
