Adam

Diehard Hufflepuff / Eccentric Leo / Hot Mess

I’ve tried starting this personal bio several times and, honestly, it’s waaaaay harder than I thought it would be. Writing about yourself is super awkward.

Expectation: "Adam Lopez is an accomplished employee at the Lawrence Public Library who has successfully convinced patrons and co-workers that they are an adult who eats responsible breakfasts (definitely not candy bars and soda pop) and never procrastinates (this bio is not being turned in on the day it is due). Adam Lopez is, like, soooo good at their job, you guys.(?)"

Reality: "I like red lipstick and dinosaurs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Here are some other random facts about me:

  • I don’t really like watching movies, but I will happily engage anyone in hours-long conversations about Mad Men. Just don’t ask me who my favorite character is, because I can’t choose (jk, it’s the perfect trifecta of Joan, Peggy, and Betty. YES, I LOVE BETTY. I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE.)
  • I collect vintage photographs that I have accumulated mostly through late night impulse Etsy purchases. I keep telling myself I will put each precious photo in a cool, vintage-y frame, but for now they live in the top drawer of my vanity so that I may occasionally take them out and stare at each individual image and cry a little at how beautiful they are.
  • I cry a lot. About everything. In fact, I probably cried a little writing this bio.
  • I am interested in anything that is creepy, macabre, or generally weird. The Addams Family is total #lifegoals.
  • True Crime podcasts are my new favorite thing. Stay sexy and listen to My Favorite Murder or call your dad (because you might be in cult) and listen to Heaven’s Gate or appropriately-named Cults. If gruesome medical history and themed cocktails are more your thang, then listen to This Podcast Will Kill You.
  • My favorite companion is Donna. Full stop.

I also really, really, really (I mean - really) LOVE books. Right now I seem to be on a fantasy kick! My favorite series at the moment are:

  • Parasol Protectorate and The Custard Protocol, both written by Gail Carriger (British witticisms + spunky heroines = my dream Steampunk universe)
  • The Memoirs of Lady Trent by Marie Brennan (lady adventurer who studies dragons, which are basically just mythical dinosaurs so I am obsessed)
  • His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (somehow I missed reading these books when I was a kid, which makes me a little sad because they’re amazingly though-provoking and filled with adventure and now I want a daemon of my own)
