In an effort to curb what is commonly referred to as "summer slide," we pick a theme and design all-ages programs, book lists, activities, and champion reading as hard as we can when school's out for summer.
The National Summer Learning Association has dedicated themselves to improving youth access to high-quality summer learning experiences to help them succeed. Their research shows that:
Low-income youth lose two to three months in reading while their higher-income peers make slight gains [every summer]. By fifth grade, summer learning loss can leave low-income students 2 1/2 to 3 years behind their peers.
Reading—and getting kids excited about reading—is our specialty and passion, which is why we aim to make Summer Reading tons of fun. Not only will we connect your child or teen with interesting and challenging books they'll adore, but we'll throw in a bevy of fun (end edible!) prizes in exchange for their effort.
We're your kiddos' Summer Reading hot spot!
