Teen Summer Reading T-Shirt Contest

Calling all 6-12th grade artists!

We want YOU to design our teen summer reading t-shirt.

Every year we have a contest to design a t-shirt based on our summer reading theme. This year’s theme is "A Universe of Stories" and could feature space, our vast universe, or storytelling in our own world. The shirt is given as one of the many teen prizes for summer reading finishers. That means that if your design is selected more than 800 teens could be wearing your design in just a few months time!

To enter, download the entry form below and submit it along with your design to the Teen Zone by Friday, April 5, 2019.  You can also pick up a paper copy of the entry form in the Teen Zone.

2019 T-Shirt Contest Entry Form

The winning design will be selected at the end of April by the Teen Advisory Board (made up of 6-12th graders) and library staff. The winner will receive a $25 gift card from Downtown Lawrence Inc., a one-of-a-kind hoodie or bag with their design, and t-shirts for their immediate family members.

Check out the entry form for all the requirements, but here is a little more information to get you started:

This year’s theme is  "A Universe of Stories". You can interpret this however you want. Your imagination is the limit. You also need to include the words “Lawrence Public Library Teen Zone” somewhere on your design.

One last important tip: Your design can only be one color. That is, one color of ink on white paper. But you can draw your design by hand, use a computer, or use any other technique.

Here are the winning designs from the past few summers. Your design does not need to look anything like these, but hopefully this will get your imagination going!
