There will be dance performances by Grupo Folklorico MiSol, opens a new window and KU Karisma, opens a new window along with food, games, art, and other cultural offerings.
Please join us to celebrate the importance and vibrancy of Lawrence’s multicultural community. This free event is dedicated to embracing cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
“As a service organization that provides resources to all, it’s essential that we recognize the importance of our fellow Lawrence community members who may not have been born in the United States or whose family recently immigrated,” Terese Winters, Information Services Librarian shared. “Our goal is to provide a life-long and positive relationship with the library for these families, for BIPOC communities, for our long-time community members, for immigrants, new U.S. citizens, English language learners (ELL), adult readers of Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish, and so many more valuable community members. Not speaking English as your first language can make entering the library a daunting experience. Over time, we hope to demonstrate clearly and compassionately that no matter what language you speak, we will meet you where you are.”
